Archive profile summary

Founder of Blackwater and later Vectus Global whose career spans U.S. government security contracting, private military and security ventures, political access and later operations in Haiti and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Why this entry is in the archive

A major private-security node in the broader story of privatized state capacity and political access.

Blackwater

Prince founded Blackwater in 1997. The company grew into a major U.S. government security contractor during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Blackwater's State Department protective work placed armed private personnel in roles closely tied to public diplomatic and security missions.

Nisour Square and sale

The 2007 Nisour Square shootings became the defining accountability crisis associated with Blackwater's Iraq operations.

Prince later sold his ownership interest. The company's lineage continued through Xe and Academi, but Prince does not own or operate today's Constellis.

Political and foreign access

The Mueller investigation documented Prince's January 2017 Seychelles meeting with Russian sovereign-investment official Kirill Dmitriev during the presidential transition.

The report did not establish that Prince held an authorized diplomatic role, and the site does not treat the meeting as proof of a secret government channel beyond what the record establishes.

Vectus Global

Prince later founded Vectus Global. Reuters reported armed-drone operations in Haiti beginning in 2025 and U.S. preparations for closer coordination in 2026.

Reuters also reported in October 2026 that Vectus personnel operating in eastern Congo suffered a deadly battlefield ambush, illustrating that Prince's private-security activity remains active well beyond the Blackwater era.

Evidence limits

Corporate lineage should not be confused with continuous ownership: Blackwater, Academi and Constellis are not legally or operationally interchangeable.

A meeting with a foreign official or government coordination with a private firm does not itself establish improper conduct.
